Learn the legendary 5-note pentatonic run and how to stylize and orchestrate your own runs until they're second nature.
When and how to sing runs.
Music Theory the way you wish it were taught in school. We start with what makes a chord, how to identify ANY chord imaginable, and the number system. This is for musicians and singers who want to understand music theory and how it's applied in today's world of music. My next course, Modern Music Theory II (Fancy Chords), focuses on voicings (how to make chords sound cool), substitution chords to manipulate the vibe and emotion of a song, and passing chords to add sauce and/or lead the listener to your next moment.
The fastest way from point A to point B is a straight line... but what if we don't like straight lines? Life is fast-paced. Everything is now now now. It's time to stop and smell the roses. And by roses, I mean passing chords.
I have nothing against a C chord. But what if there's another chord that sounds better? Or a chord that sounds more interesting, sad, happy, inquisitive or saucy? Let's keep our options open and dive into the seemingly limitless possibilities of chord substitutions.
Now we learn all the cool chords like diminished, augmented, major 7s, and even minor b5 and #9 dominant chords, and of course, voicings to make them sound cool.
Every Music Course I offer. Theory and Vocal.
Are you optimizing the voice you have? Make sure you are by learning the right way to warm up, developing the tone you want and being aware of how you might be sabotaging your voice right before you sing.
